TL;DR
This list covers the HR side of Rippling. HR-only platforms don't replace its IT layer (device and app management) or its spend tools: if you need those from one vendor, stay with Rippling. Factorial and Deel sell some IT tools separately. For US payroll in the same system as HR, look at BambooHR, HiBob or Deel, which also runs payroll in other countries. If most of your team is in Europe, look at Personio. If you want AI agents to handle HR work on their own, for one published price with every module, Worklayer is built for that. Worklayer is our product.

Why companies look for an alternative
Rippling doesn't publish prices. You tell it which services you need and get a custom quote, and each product is bought separately on top of the required core platform. Subscriptions run for a year or more, are paid at the start of each term and renew automatically. Rippling doesn't offer early cancellation for convenience, and the committed number of users can't be lowered during the term. Existing customers have to request access to Rippling AI.
Rippling is still the right choice if you want HR and payroll in the same system as device and app management and spend tools such as corporate cards, expenses, bill pay and travel. It has more than 600 integrations and is used by more than 30,000 businesses, by its own count.
The alternatives in detail
BambooHR
An HR platform for small and mid-sized businesses from Draper, Utah, founded in 2008 and used by more than 30,000 companies. Its Core, Pro and Elite plans cover HR data, time off and hiring. Payroll and benefits administration (for US employees only), time and attendance and global employment are add-ons.
- Suits
- US companies that want payroll, benefits and recruiting in the same system as HR, with the option of monthly terms.
- Price
- On request with every module. Elite, the largest plan, is $25 per employee per month, or a flat $650 a month for companies of 25 or fewer. Payroll and benefits administration (for US employees only), time and attendance and global employment are add-ons with no published price.
- AI and agents
- Ask BambooHR answers questions, and how much it covers depends on the plan. Bamboo AI, in open beta, prepares work, but payroll runs, schedule changes, job structure updates and employee outreach need review before they're applied or sent. BambooHR may limit AI use without notice.
- Strengths
- US payroll with federal, state and local tax filing, and US benefits administration. Recruiting in every plan, with 5 to 50 open jobs depending on the plan. Month-to-month terms, more than 150 integrations and a seven-day free trial.
- Limits
- Payroll and benefits cover US-based employees only. Time tracking is a paid add-on, and Bamboo AI is still in beta. Companies of 25 or fewer pay a flat monthly fee. Longer terms can't be cancelled early and renew for 12 months unless you cancel 60 days ahead.
Deel
A global payroll and HR platform, founded in 2019 and used by more than 40,000 companies. Deel HR comes in three plans, and payroll, employer of record, recruiting, IT and AI agents are priced separately.
- Suits
- Companies with people in several countries that want payroll, an employer of record and HR in one system.
- Price
- On request with every module, because Deel's AI Workforce agents are a paid add-on with no published price. Deel's Elite HR plan with self-service US payroll is $49 per employee per month; recruiting adds from $10 and expenses from $8.
- AI and agents
- The Deel AI assistant is included with every Deel product, in the app and in Slack. AI Workforce agents are a paid add-on, and Deel says they don't run automatically: your team deploys them when it needs help and stays in control of decisions and approvals.
- Strengths
- Payroll in the US and many other countries, an employer of record and contractor payments in more than 120 currencies. Performance, learning and compensation planning in the higher HR plans. Deel IT for laptops and device management.
- Limits
- No self-serve trial of Deel HR. Its pricing page says month to month, but its platform terms renew services for a year at a time unless you give 90 days' notice. AI agents have no published price.
Factorial
An HR, finance and IT platform from Barcelona, founded in 2016 and used by more than 17,000 companies. Core HR is the base, and time, talent, finance and IT tools are sold as separate modules.
- Suits
- Companies that want expenses and IT tools, such as device management, in the same system as HR.
- Price
- On request with every module. You choose modules on top of Factorial Core and get a tailored quote, and every account pays for at least 10 seats in the US or 14 in the UK.
- AI and agents
- Factorial's AI agent, One, asks before it acts, and how much each person can use it per day depends on their plan. A recruiting agent can call candidates and move those who meet your threshold to the next stage.
- Strengths
- Expenses, procurement, device management and SaaS management on the same platform as HR, time tracking, shift planning and recruiting.
- Limits
- No published price for the full set. Payroll is prepared in Factorial and handed to your accountant or payroll software. Contracts renew automatically, and committed seats can only be lowered from the next renewal.
HiBob
An HR platform founded in 2015 and used by more than 5,500 companies, with offices in New York, London, Berlin and other cities. Bob Core covers the HR basics, and payroll, hiring, compensation and time and attendance are add-ons.
- Suits
- Companies that need US or UK payroll, hiring or compensation planning in the same system as HR.
- Price
- On request. HiBob prices by your company's size, your needs and the modules you choose.
- AI and agents
- Bob AI needs a person to approve every action that affects company data. HiBob's fair use policy allows monthly limits on AI requests and extra fees for heavy use.
- Strengths
- US payroll that files in all 50 states, UK payroll, hiring, compensation, performance and learning, each as an add-on.
- Limits
- No published prices. No expenses module. Time and attendance costs extra.
Personio
An HR platform from Munich, founded in 2015 and used by more than 16,000 small and mid-sized organisations. It covers core HR, time tracking, preliminary payroll, recruiting and performance, with expense management through Circula.
- Suits
- Companies with most of their team in Europe, and especially in Germany, where Personio runs payroll itself.
- Price
- On request. A one-time setup fee depends on your company size, and the yearly subscription runs for at least 12 months.
- AI and agents
- Personio Assistant answers HR questions and analyses your data. Some AI features, such as the Talent Screening Agent in recruiting, run on AI credits that you buy in packs or pay for per credit.
- Strengths
- Payroll for Germany in the same system, payroll exports for your provider elsewhere, recruiting, and expense management through Circula. A 14-day free trial.
- Limits
- Only starting prices are published, with a quote after a demo and a one-time setup fee. Outside Germany, payroll data goes to your provider as an export. Some AI features cost extra in credits.
Worklayer
An HR platform run by AI agents. Agents handle onboarding, leave, expenses and payroll preparation on a schedule or when something happens, within the permissions you set.
- Suits
- Companies of 3 people or more that want AI agents to take on HR work, with clear permissions, a published price and no sales call.
- Price
- $12 per employee per month in the US (£9 in the UK), billed annually, with every module, every integration and unlimited AI. No setup fee.
- AI and agents
- You build your own agents, which run on a schedule or on events such as a new hire or a time-off request. Each agent starts with no permissions. Admins grant them per area, and a run that needs more stops and asks. Every run is logged step by step. Every employee also gets an AI assistant, on the web and in Slack. No credits and no caps, subject to fair use.
- Strengths
- Agents that do the work themselves. One price covering time off, attendance, expenses, documents and analytics. A 14-day self-serve trial, and you can be up and running the same day.

How we compared
Worklayer is our product. We included it on this list and put it where it falls alphabetically. Everything about the other vendors comes from their own websites, pricing pages and terms, read on 13 October 2026. Prices are shown as each vendor publishes them, with every module where that's possible. No vendor paid for a place, and there are no affiliate links. When a price or feature changes, we update the page.
Questions
It depends on what you use Rippling for. If you rely on its device and app management or spend tools, stay with Rippling. For US payroll alongside HR, BambooHR, HiBob or Deel. For payroll in many countries, Deel. For a team mostly in Europe, Personio. For AI agents that do the work themselves, Worklayer.
Not the HR-only ones. Factorial sells expenses, device management and SaaS management as modules. Deel sells an expenses add-on and Deel IT, which covers laptops and device management. Each is priced separately. If you want HR, payroll, IT and spend from one vendor, stay with Rippling.
BambooHR and HiBob, each priced on top of their HR plans, and Deel, which sells US payroll on its own or bundled with Deel HR. Factorial and Personio prepare payroll for your provider, and Personio runs payroll itself only in Germany. Worklayer prepares payroll and exports it for your payroll provider.
Worklayer is $12 per employee per month with every module and unlimited AI. Deel publishes its plans: its Elite HR plan with US payroll is $49, with recruiting and AI agents extra. BambooHR publishes its plans but not its add-ons, such as payroll and benefits. Factorial, HiBob and Rippling quote on request. Personio publishes starting prices only and quotes the full price after a demo.
In Worklayer you build your own agents that act on their own, within the permissions an admin grants. Deel sells AI agents as a paid add-on that your team deploys when it needs help. HiBob's Bob AI asks a person to confirm every action, and so does Rippling AI, apart from its IT Helpdesk agent, which can resolve routine requests such as password resets on its own. Factorial's One asks before it acts, though its recruiting agent can move candidates who meet your threshold to the next stage. BambooHR's agents are in beta and need review for payroll runs and other changes. Personio charges AI credits for features such as its talent screening agent.
With Worklayer, yes: you sign up yourself and nothing is charged for 14 days. BambooHR has a seven-day free trial. Deel, Factorial and HiBob start with a demo, and Personio with a demo and a quote. Rippling has no trial of its platform, only of Rippling IT.
With Worklayer you import your team from a spreadsheet while AI maps the columns, and you can be up and running the same day. Deel says core HR usually goes live in weeks. Plan the switch for the end of your Rippling term, and opt out of renewal at least 30 days before it ends.
No. Worklayer is our product. That's why the list is alphabetical, every other vendor gets strengths and limits, and every claim comes from the vendor's own public pages.
